2、 Bin Abstract Objective: To assess the complications and effectiveness of nephron sparing surgery(NSS)for the treatment of renal cell carcinoma. Methods : Retrospective analysis of the clinical documents of 30 patients,

3、who underwent nephron sparing surgery for renal cell carcinoma at our institutions from Dec.2002 to Apr. 2010 Of the 30 patients, 16 are male and 14 are female with an average age of 45.4 years(range 28-72years). The mea

4、n diameter of the tumors is 2.75cm (range 1.5cm to 5cm) and the stage of all patients is T1N0M0. The evaluated factors include postoperative complications and incidence of postoperative local recurrence metastasis. Meanw

5、hile, nephron sparing surgery compared radical nephrectomy with operation duration，measurement of hemorrhagic volume, extubation drainage time and hospitalization duration after surgery. Results: The NSS for all 30 pati

6、ents of renal cell carcinoma were successful. The postoperative comp1ications included fluidify with infection in1case and wound infection in 1 case and narrow hydronephrosis after ureteral injury in1case. There were no

7、other postoperative complications suchas urinary fistula and no local recurrence and metastasis. After a mean follow-up 42 months, no tumor metastasis or recurrence, renal insufficiency was not found. There is no signif

8、icant difference in operation duration, measurement of hemorrhagic volume, extubation drainage time and hospitalization duration after surgery between nephron sparing surgery and radical nephrectomy. Conclusions: Nephron
