2、er the root-seeking period in the 1990s and the post root-seeking period in the 21st century. Every stage presents different literary forms and have different significance in literary history . This paper is divided i

3、nto three chapters. Each chapter discusses some root-seeking works from a certain period and their development trend. The first chapter discusses the development trend of the root-seeking work in the 1980s. The developme

4、nt trend is “ theory first, practice later“ . With this feature, works of this period manifests some defects eching this theory. On one hand, the writer conforms the new cultural position and aesthetic space they bring

5、to the litereture of that time. On the other hand, the writer also gives out the existing problems of these literary works. Chapter 2 discusses works after the root-seeking period . First the concept of “after the root

6、-seeking period“ is made clear. “After the root-seeking period“ mainly refers to literary works appearing since the nineties and those following the root-seeking route, or the writer of them has folk cultural position .

7、These works is actually puting “root-seeking“ ideal into practice.Thus new literature features emerge: understatement, stability, standard. Although slightly rough, these works play a large role in bridging the gap betw

8、een the advantages and the defects of “root-seeking“ novels in the 1980s. They possess the posibility to realize the “root-seeking“ ideal. Meanwhile, works of this period also practised on new styles and language based o

9、n the inspiration of style privided by root-seeking period. Chapter 3 discussed the post root-seeking period. Here works of the “root-seeking“ and those of “the post root-seeking“ differs in that “postmodern“ consciousn

10、ess is already included in works of the the post root-seeking period. Though those “postmodern“ features haven't manifested group characteristics, they have scattered in the post root-seeking works, worthing to comb

11、 and study. Discussion on the three stages is based on close reading of texts. Writers and works included in the research scope are “Father father father“, “Ma Qiao Dictionary“, “Implied“ by Han Shaogong, ; “three Kin

12、gs,“ “earth romantic novel series“ by A Chen; “thick soil“and “ the tree of no wind “ by Li Rui and “Feast of Buddy“ by the young writer Cheng Qiong in the 21st century. By classifying these writers and works, the paper

13、 aims to finding out a clear vein from “the root-seeking period“ to “after the root-seeking period“ to “the post root-seeking period“. This vein shows that from the 1980s, root seeking novels maintain a stubborn devel
